off to the great white north

Well, my trip to North Carolina was quite nice. The Riverdance show was wonderful, and it was quite something to see Alexis on stage in front of 2000 odd people so relaxed and natural and smiling. I had a chance to meet several of the cast members after the show and they were all very nice people and super friendly etc.... I talked to the lead male dancer for about 15 minutes in the bar and then when he left I turned to Alexis and asked "who was that?" and she looked at me like I had 2 heads. People look so different on stage. Mostly they look much bigger than they actually are.

Anyway, it's American Thanksgiving this weekend and I have Thursday and Friday off so I am flying to Ottawa for 4 days. Tomorrow I will hopefully clear a few items off of my to-do list and then be able to enjoy the bulk of my weekend. The one thing I will have to do is grade homework for the class I TA, but that is low pressure and not really work but only a grind and like mowing a lawn or digging a hole.....

Before I sign off I will post a link to a song that I have been listening to a lot lately. It is by Wolf Parade (a band from Montreal) and the song is called Shine a light.

off to the deep south

I have never been south of Washington D.C., but tomorrow morning I am going to North Carolina to see my sister Alexis perform in the show Riverdance. Unfortunately, as usual, I waited until the last minute to book my ticket and so I am flying out at 6am. What's particularly annoying about this early departure time is that the Boston transit system shuts down at around midnight, meaning I will have to walk the 15 miles to the airport at 3am.....either that or take a cab. I got a really good seat to the show (maybe 3 rows from the front) and I'm sneaking in some potato chips and cream soda, so it should be pretty enjoyable.

Alexis......

I am coming to see you in less than 3 days. I want to make a few things clear before I show up:

1. I get the bed, you get the floor in the bathroom (I can't have your snoring keep me awake)
2. I will require a chauffeured limousine to and from the auditorium where the Riverdance show is held
3. In addition to the chauffeur, I will also require two young, lithe, and beautiful dancers to accompany me in said limousine, laugh at my jokes, and comb my mullet.
4. That is all.

The Price of Beer

Let me tell you one thing....the price of beer is too low. Yesterday after work I went to the local Liquor store (I can't recall the name but it is just up in Central Square). I decided that after a long week I would enjoy one or two cold ones after dinner etc... I picked up a case of Miller "High Life" - the champagne of beer: Well, imagine my shock when I got to the head of the line and found out that 30 cans of Miller beer costs $14.99 - I just want to say that prices like that are ridiculous and promote alcoholism.

first post

welcome to my blog. it is fairly sparse right now but soon it will be full of things that I wrote or links to things I found on my internet. I will start things off by posting a picture of myself. As you can see, I am quite handsome:

I live in Massachusetts - the Bay state. I am a man of discriminating tastes, and I'm accustomed to luxury. Behold my living quarters:
Fancy, non? It's even nicer now since my mom and dad came to visit and brought more furniture. Well, I guess that's it for now. My next update will be more interesting I hope. Thanks,
